2030: towards a sustainable and digital Europe

The year 2030 has been marked on the agenda of the European Union (EU) as the deadline for achieving the sustainability goals set by the United Nations’ Agenda 2030. However, not all the goals set for the end of the decade are directly related to the environment.

In fact, 2030 is also a key horizon for the Union in terms of digitalization. And not only for companies, but also – and especially – for individuals: according to The Digital Economy and Society Index (DESI) report, 40% of European workers lack basic digital skills.

It is therefore necessary to reformulate existing goals and propose strategies to ensure that the continent’s citizens have digital skills in line with today’s needs. This is particularly relevant in the business ecosystem, which increasingly requires professionals with technological skills that the labor market is currently unable to offer.
